Northern Lights Resort & Spa is an award-winning Lodge/Resort business catering to customers from all over the globe, and we offer All-Inclusive packages for Northern Lights Viewing & Nature – Fun Activities between September to April. We are looking for an enthusiastic and adventurous tour guide for Northern Lights Viewing and occasionally daytime sightseeing & natural interpretation tours.

This will be a very diverse job in a fast pace environment, and flexibility in many fields is required. In this position, you will have to have excellent teamwork skills as well as individual decision-making skills. The central aspect of this job is guiding Aurora Viewing tours which can occasionally include day-time sightseeing tours and airport transfers, as well as help with the general daily duties at the Resort if needed. We offer continuous training on the job. This position is for an open-minded, outgoing person looking to work well in our small team and be independent and develop new ideas to successfully help grow Northern Lights Resort & Spa.

We are currently looking for an Aurora Viewing tour guide/interpreter for the winter season of 2022-23.

This is a seasonal/part-time job from now until April 3, 2023, with 4 hours average per night / 3-4 nights per week. Regular work hours are from 9:45 PM to 1.30 AM. Interested applicants can also add some daytime hours with guiding sightseeing tours and/or guest shuttles.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a valid work permit for Canada to be considered
  • Guiding skills (interpretative skills, further training on the job)
  • Good knowledge of local history and geography or willingness to acquire this knowledge
  • Organization skills
  • Reliability, Dependability & Punctuality
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Describe points of interest
  • Develop and deliver commentaries
  • answer inquiries and provide information
  • Independent work in the fields of guiding, planning and scheduling
  • punctual, team player/leader, responsible
  • Valid drivers licence, Canadian Class IV driver's licence is an asset
  • Up-to-date First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)

Salary:

Hours: Part-Time (15+ hours per week)

Salary starts at $18 - 25 / hour, depending on experience

Assets:


  • Fluency in a second language is an asset; French and/or Spanish with translating skills
  • Photography Skills are an asset, but training will be provided
