Reporting to the Director, Career-Integrated Learning, the Associate Director, Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) and Experiential Learning (EL) Services ("Associate Director") leads a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for the coordination and expansion of a broad range of WIL/EL services/initiatives across Sheridan.. The Associate Director serves in a pivotal and leadership role in advancing Co-op, WIL/EL at Sheridan, as well as broader socialization and promotion of Sheridan and the work of this unit to partners across the college and externally. The Associate Director also plays a key role in consulting, collaborating, and facilitating Sheridan-wide planning, execution, and expansion of quality WIL/EL (e.g. in partnership with academic Faculties, CTL, IR, SEEM, LLS, and others). Sheridan has specific commitments to quality, diversity, and leadership in WIL and the Associate Director will play a pivotal role in supporting pan-institutional efforts to achieve these strategic outcomes. They are responsible for externally funded programs WIL funding and wage subsidies, and accountable for the successful implementation and quality audits for these funding deliverables and related resources (accountable for millions in external funding). The Associate Director is also accountable for the creation, maintenance, and application of risk mitigation and management, compliance, workplace safety, and documentation and standards (e.g. MOUs, affiliation agreements, health, and safety protocols).

You will be responsible for:
Leading and planning of WIL/EL Services for Sheridan; responsible for a policy framework and supports for WIL (80+ programs and 7,000+ students) and a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement Sheridan's strategic objectives related to Work-Integrated Learning;

Financial and human resources leadership, which includes managing 20+ full-time staff and co-op students, external funding and grants (in millions), as well as budgetary responsibility for WIL/EL Services Unit Leadership for Careers, WIL, and EL technology: Contract management of Sheridan Works platform with a vendor; configuration, policies, compliance and quality, and implementation of the Sheridan Works system;

Data, Reporting, Audit, and Quality Assurance: Developing, implementing, and maintaining mechanisms to ensure student health and safety in WIL (7,000+ students per year), institutional risk management and mitigation, data and metrics to ensure quality and performance management, and accountable for ministry reporting such as annual reports, and Strategic Mandate Agreement metrics;

Administrative and operational aspects of Co-op, Career Services, and Co-curricular Record program, as well as the Experiential Learning transcript and career competency alignment within WIL curriculum. Operational needs of Co-op (student/employer liaison functions), delivery of the CCR, policy/procedure training of WIL practitioners, and others;

Other duties, projects, and activities, as required.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:

Master’s degree in Business, Education or other related field

7 years of professional and leadership experience, ideally work in the field of work-integrated learning, experiential learning and/or career education or related field, preferably in post-secondary sector (equivalency will be considered)

Demonstrated experience in leading mid-large projects or initiatives with multiple stakeholders

Ability to formulate, facilitate team progress, and implement project plans

Knowledge of the theoretical, practical and pedagogical aspects of experiential education, including learning outcomes and assessment

Knowledge of health and safety requirements for students engaging in experiential education

Knowledge of Sheridan programs and courses (asset)

Experience in budget and financial resource management (asset)

Certificate in Project Management (Desired)
